MPA Gems! Week wrap up

I love the name "MPA Gems". It's consistent with the "g" concept that we use for Glitter, Glitz and Glamour. And it's a hoot that Sue calls us the Grownups.
1. Don't forget to print your form www.columbusrunning.com/t3.htm and give it (and check) to Vickie by next Sunday. She'll turn in our forms for us.

2. Thanks to Bob/Stu for offering their info on all weather running gear.

3. Saturday Run at Antrim - On Saturday, November 1, I will be taking Buzzalou to Antrim. The lake is 1.2 miles around. I will be at the dock at 10:30 a.m. and will be happy for anyone to join me. Maybe I'll grab a nice brunch afterwards (there is a yummy FirstWatch nearby at the Worthington Mall). Bring your kiddies if you think they might enjoy the run/walk. Because it's a 1.2 mile loop, it's easy to keep track of them. Buzzins has been running there since she was 8.

4. Elaine/Katie - how have you done with your training since you two were traveling this week? Hanging in there?

5. Welcome Sally and Chrissy! We were happy to have you with us! Debra, so glad that you're back in the groove. Julie you looked great! Sue, I loved catching up on Liz. Amber, there's no doubt that you're an athlete. Vickie, those legs are gorgeous (ahh....you could have been a Rockette). Jenny/Marsha, thanks for joining the club (loved having you). Constance, we've missed you. Abs, we wish you could join us on Sundays (maybe on Saturday at Antrim?).

I love the name....MPA Gems!!!

Two weeks from today is Trot for tots. Should I be training more then 3 days a week or is this enough?

I am definitely going to find something to keep my ears warm that wind is a killer.

Debra alot of us really like the shirt that Bob had on in the marathon. Did you make that for him?

Hi everyone!
Sorry I missed you today but I have been trying to catch up on many of my household responsibilities and I was still raking leaves at 5pm! I am going to run/walk in the morning though. I really like getting it done in the morning when I can. I am still having discomfort in my knees but utilizing my breathing to work through it. I also am getting new shoes which I think will help a great deal.
I am so excited about the run at Antrim! I am going to try to bring Avery along if I can pry her out of bed. If anyone would like to carpool I would be willing to drive.
By the way, I think all of you are "gems"!
Have a great start to your week!

I'll be there on Saturday! I will run and then lock my self away in the highest tower of the Westerville Library to get my studying done.
I brought my form to the gym on Sunday and forgot to turn it in! I will have to remember to turn it in on Tuesday.
Anyone looking for warm running stuff should check out Marshalls, they have a ton of Nike running clothing. I just went and stocked up on running shirts and pants. It is seriously cold... I can't handle it, I think my blood is still to thin from the Arizona summers. Brrr!

It was nice to get a look at the running gear yesterday. I went to roadrunnersports.com and they have a great online selection. I even found "tall" length running pants on there but they were like $60 (I'm telling you the long legs aren't always so great) it can be quite a daunting task finding pants that fit and don't cost a fortune. Thanks for the tip on Marshalls Abi-I haven't been there for quite some time but I am sure I will be checking it out soon.

Roadrunnersports.com has a warehouse like outlet just north of 270 - I think it's on or near 23. I'm sure the location is on their web-site.

I must admit that I was not good this weekend. I indulged with my high school friends and did not exercise...unless you count the bicep curls of moving the cup to my mouth. ;-)

If Kelly and I don't go out of town, I'll be at Antrim on Saturday. It's a really nice walk and if you don't want to walk the loop, you can head north or south for a change of scenery.

I added some info about cold weather gear on the prior post. I can buy UnderArmour gear at half price, so take a look at my comment and let me know!

Mwah!

So a question for the experts here-

I have a cold and just don't feel great. Tomorrow I plan on running-I think after the cold meds kick in I can do it.

Is this a wise thing to do or is it best to let your body recuperate from the cold bug first?

Hey Elaine-Question, must UA be from the tactical line or could it be something else. I am looking at a Coldgear jacket.

I am sorry I haven't been there the last couple of weeks. I was so pumped that I got up to 2 miles!!! But then my ankle started hurting. Probably Tendonitis again.... Don't know why I want to do something so badly that my body so obviously doesn't! Guess that's my stubborness coming through! I did run a mile tonight and my ankle's not killing me so maybe I'll be there on Sunday. Saturday I have to get my haircut and get all waxed so that's probably out :)

I am so proud of all of you for sticking to it.

Found another race that's in December. The Reindeer Run at Easton. Might be fun to run and then lunch and shopping :) Did someone already bring this one up? Seem to remember the shopping part.

Anyway....I'll quit babbling now!!

Vickie - I have ordered non-tactical gear before. I can try and get the order through. I just like to warn people before in case it doesn't go through. If they don't accept the order, I'll let you know ASAP. :)

Katie - The Reindeer Run is fun! Emily, I and the girls did it a couple of years ago and dressed up in the spirit of the holidays! Yes, I was running in Old Navy fleece pants that said Ho, Ho, Ho! We were so much fun, they took a picture of us...although I never did see it up on the site...
